Geography and the Nature of Place: The American Midwest

Dr. Catherine Hooey will deliver the lecture "Geography and the Nature of Place:  The American Midwest" in response to the exhibit "Hauling Hay."  Dr. Hooey's lecture  will respond to the curatorial premise that “hauling hay” and other “classically contrived versions” of the Midwestern spirit help to shape men, and by extension art that is masculine" from her perspective as a geographer.

This lecture is the last one in the five week lecture series devoted to exploring a variety of viewpoints related to the exhibit “Hauling Hay,” guest curated by Mr. Joe Summers and featuring the artwork of Fred Kautt, Danny Meisinger and Guinotte Wise on view in the University Gallery until November 17.
