New Academic Year starts!

Porter Hall is buzzing with activities and classes. This is a very welcome change from the quiet, sleepy summer. We welcome back some familiar faces and are excited to meet the new folks! 




One new face in the Department of Art is Emi Gennis. Emi just made the amazing journey from Portland, Oregon to Pittsburg. She will be teaching Illustration in the Department! 

Emi has a BA from the University of Chicago, an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work has appeared in both print and online publications, including several anthologies. She is the editor of Unknown Origins & Untimely Ends, an anthology of nonfiction mystery comics published by Hic & Hoc Publications.

Senior Exhibit

The 2013 Senior Class are currently exhibiting their works in the Student Gallery on the 2nd floor of Porter Hall. This exhibition will be open April 22nd-May 3rd, and a reception will be held this Saturday, April 27th from 5:00-8:00p.m. in the Gallery. We invite everyone to come join us as we celebrate our talented seniors!

Art 333. Drawing III class displays Ipad images.

James Oliver's Art 333. Drawing III class has been working all semester with some new media. Students like Zach Stoppel (artwork featured below) have been learning how drawing directing in the digital world. The resulting images are currently on display in the second floor gallery of Porter Hall at Pittsburg State University. James Oliver received a teaching grant to use the ipads for the class through the PSU Center for Teaching and Learning. This is the second semester James has included digital media in the drawing curriculum.

Faculty Exhibit


The PSU Department of Art Biannual Faculty Exhibit is here! It will be displayed in the University Gallery of Porter Hall, March 27th- May 1st 2013.
